Storytime 1.4 just went live in the App Store, and we have an exciting set of new book apps to announce!
First some housekeeping. We’re discontinuing support for Storytime 1.0 as of March 1st. If you are still on that version you will not be able to connect to the Store. Your purchased books will still show up when you upgrade of course. So please update now!
Storytime 1.4 has some specific improvements:
- Better handling of offline mode reading when you are not connected to the Internet
- Some performance updates such eg when closing a book after your’re done reading
- Particle effects! That’s right. Snow, smoke, explosions, fire, rain and all sorts of magical effects are now possible in new Storytime books!
You will enjoy two new releases in the store today. “A Troop is a Group of Monkeys” by our very own Stacey William-Ng’s new publishing startup, Little Bahalia Publishing. Written by Julie Hedlund and illustrated by Pamela Baron, Troop is a great way for ALL of us to learn the names of animal groups from a troop of monkeys to a surfeit of skunks! We love the Reading Strategies included in the app. Troop had an excellent debut in the App Store earlier this week, climbing to #59 on the paid iPad Books list.
We are also launching the first book app by another startup digital publisher, Purple Ely. Ever had trouble getting your kids to school? “Monster Morning” helps little ones “learn daily routines in an enchanting series of interactive scenes with delightful illustrations” according to Digitalstorytime.com. We have been reading some great third party reviews since it’s App Store launch last month, and you too will find this a really fun book app to read!
Read more about these books and watch the video previews in the Books section of our website. We love seeing the work new digital publishers like Stacey Williams and Franca Munoz are doing with the Demibooks Composer platform. They are helping change the game, one new publication at a time.
Watch out for additional titles on Storytime coming very soon!
